Playing ‘Personal Jesus’ by Johnny Cash live

What a cool and fun song to play on guitar!
It was a lovely challenge that I’m really happy to have taken on. It didnโ€™t come out perfect far from it but it came out the best I could do, so that makes it perfect โ˜บ๏ธ

Also, I want to tell you something.
Lately Iโ€™ve been focusing on something beyond just the song itself: connection. Connection with the song, with the audience, and with myself. Interpretation, really. And I think it’s super cool to share it.

Behind every song there’s always a story.
A story that we can all relate to or not, including the songwriter, or a story that can be completely personal. A story I have to tell you and pass on to you. The tone, the look, the energy, the gestures, the intensity, the smile, the words, the breathing… every imaginable element helps convey that story.

My story with this song is all about seduction.
Thatโ€™s what it makes me feel and what it inspires in me. I want to seduce the audience. I want to seduce you. I want to be your Personal Jesus. I could even choose someone in the audience and look them straight in the eyes while I whisper the lyrics of the song.

It sounds easy when I say it like this, and in fact, during rehearsals at home I manage to flow way more than on stage. I get closer to the story I want to share with you, closer to my goal. I still find it hard to fully let go during live shows โ˜บ๏ธ

I believe that by doing this exercise every time I play a song, Iโ€™m going to make huge progress.
And Iโ€™m going to enjoy it so much more. Itโ€™s not just chords, itโ€™s not just words. And as a result, Iโ€™m going to open myself up to more mistakes which I absolutely love.
Sure, if I played seriously, standing still, focused, staring at the guitar, it would all sound more “perfect”. But Iโ€™m not chasing perfection, Iโ€™m chasing intensity. Iโ€™m chasing that connection โค๏ธ

PS: Tell me something, did I manage to seduce you with this song? ๐Ÿ™ˆ
