Playing ‘Maldita Dulzura’ on the streets of Madrid

As you know, last week I flew from Ireland to Madrid. I decided to bring my guitar on the plane! It was a simple process and they didn’t give me any trouble. It was enough to buy two plane tickets, one for me and one for my 6-string girl. And yes, they even put on her seatbelt, probably to prevent her from causing chaos in the aisles, I guess 😂

I’m really happy I made the effort to bring the guitar. At the center of @powerexplosive, I had the chance to play on several occasions during these days, including some really fun moments, like I shared in the stories. The video I’m sharing with you this time was recorded at the Royal Palace of Madrid. There weren’t many people but the surroundings were super beautiful 🙈

I tried to make more videos around Madrid but literally the police wouldn’t let me. I asked if I could play, even just for 3 minutes to record a song, and they always told me not to even think about it or I’d get fined. You’ll rarely see me complain, I accept things as they are, but I think it’s important to put it in context. I felt really bad, like I was doing something very very wrong and had to hide if I wanted to do it. In fact, we even saw a guy getting fined for doing something as serious as sharing his music. I think we have a lot to learn from Ireland, a place where music is love, where you can play anywhere, anytime, and only good things happen. Because it’s music. Because you’re sharing a little piece of yourself 🎵

Music is art. It’s feelings. It should never be punished or filtered under any circumstances. It’s one of the most beautiful forms of expression, if not the most beautiful. And despite the difficulties and the fast pace of life, I will keep fighting to create a better world thanks to music ❤️
