Playing in Irish pubs

Yesterday I went back to an Irish traditional music session! 🎵 I was a bit nervous because this time it was a regular session, unlike the previous times which were slow sessions. In the past, I probably would have backed out and not played because I didn’t have the sheet music for most songs and would have felt very insecure, but October 2019 Gato didn’t care at all and just dove into improvising all those songs. It was wonderful, I came out feeling much stronger and of course, I learned a lot! 😇

The pub had a great vibe, with lots of people having drinks and quite a few musicians joining the session. And again, after the session ended, we kept playing various songs in a super improvised way, each musician sharing pieces of themselves and bringing them together. It created a really enriching and beautiful atmosphere ☺️

I only have to share the video I posted on my stories last night from the Irish traditional music session itself and this little clip Ryan recorded of the moment ‘Maldita Dulzura’ as a duet with @auroracg95, accompanied by percussion, mandolin, and other instruments, all completely improvised right then and there. Music born in that moment, music that dies in that moment. Music exactly as it’s felt in that moment. Music we’ll play a thousand more times, and it will be wonderful, but it will never be exactly how it was that moment ❤️
