Playing ‘City of Stars’ from La La Land live with Marina

Life is so cool! The other day I brought a nasty cold to Galway. The thing is, I was really eager to play again at @openmicgalway after almost 2 months. I had been preparing a song with my super husky, cold voice. I even thought about not playing this week. But life can throw your plans off in an instant 😬

My friend @anaamaro introduced me on Saturday to the lovely Marina (@marinacamsojo), we played a bit and really connected. She has an amazing voice! We talked about playing together at Open Mic and decided on the beautiful song ‘City of Stars.’ On Sunday we practiced a little and jumped on stage to see what happened. Just like that, without thinking it over. For both of us, it was a challenge beyond the fact that we hadn’t rehearsed the song. But I’m more and more sure that only wonderful things happen on the other side of fear ☺️

When I went on stage, I didn’t feel nervous. The night started with laughs, joking around with the audience 😂. That said, when I started playing, I felt my fingers trembling a little, not much, but enough to lose some precision, which reminded me I still have to keep working. But I also remembered that I’m not afraid of mistakes, not even of sharing them. I smiled and lived the moment, grateful for the opportunity.

It was amazing to share the stage, to feel that complicity and connection. Singing to someone while looking them in the eyes and forgetting there’s an audience. I have such a beautiful memory and a thousand thanks to Marina for letting herself be dragged into this and being part of my madness, a madness I know we’ll repeat 🎵

This morning I woke up thinking about the difference between staying home feeling sorry for my cold or going out and doing what I did. Overthinking doesn’t help, but one decision changes everything. Life is so cool! ❤️

PS: What did you think? I’d love to read your thoughts please! ☺️
