Perfect Day by Lou Reed live

How much I love this song by Lou Reed. And how much I enjoy playing it. Yesterday I had the chance to perform it live at @openmicgalway and it was a real pleasure. I slipped up a little at some point but it doesn’t matter. I really enjoyed it, especially when the audience sang the choruses with me ❤️

I’m more and more sure that what I like most about playing live is interacting with people. It’s hard to describe the feeling when the audience stops being just that and becomes an active part of the show. We all become one, we all feed off each other. It’s a wonderful feeling. It’s something I want to keep experiencing little by little, learning how to create those moments, which so far have just happened naturally 🙈

And it’s amazing to see so many musicians go through the stage and learn from them. Watching how they move, how they gesture, how they smile, their looks, how they speak. For example, my friend @denismockler did really well. He played a very fun song he composed and got people to sing the choruses together in a very smooth and enjoyable way. I learned a lot just by watching him those few minutes.

When I think back on events I’ve been to or participated in, what do I remember after some time? I don’t remember how well or fast they played, or the information they shared, or anything like that. I remember when something extraordinary happened that broke my expectations. I remember when something unexpected occurred. I remember when they made me feel involved. Experiences are what we remember.

I think it’s fantastic that I pay attention to these things. Because this isn’t about showing how well I play or sing. It’s about living a unique experience. It’s about sharing the love for music. It’s about connecting, about reaching out. And there’s no better way to share something than doing it all together ❤️
