Napoleon’s Toughest Battle

Meet my new friend Napoleon, and of course, here comes a new and beautiful story: the one about how I saved him 🐶❤️

So, I needed to grab a few things, so I went for a walk to the supermarket. It’s on a road just outside the city that connects to other places, and it’s pretty busy 🚗

Anyway, right before going into the store, I saw a dog walking along the road, in between the cars, which were dodging him as best they could. And just then, I saw a car slowly pulling out of the Lidl parking lot and the dog stepped right in front of it 😱. The girl driving couldn’t see him from inside the car, so I quickly signaled her to stop because she was about to run him over.

Luckily, she saw me, stopped, and I picked the dog up in my arms. He was actually super sweet, clearly well cared for and wearing a collar. He was lost, no doubt about it. As soon as I picked him up, he started licking my face 😂

The problem was: what do I do with this dog now? I walked around the parking lot and saw an elderly couple getting out of their car, so I asked them for advice. They were super kind people, their names are Brandon and Meta, and they’re siblings. He went inside to shop, and she stayed with me and the dog.

By the way, wild side note. A lady walked by and told us she’d seen this dog before, that he didn’t live too far away, and that we should just leave him on the road and he’d go home on his own 🤮. No thanks, just noise. Meta and I saw that the collar said Napoleon and had some numbers written in two rows. The format looked odd and I didn’t recognize it at first, but the lady told me it was a phone number. So we called, and thankfully someone picked up, and we got in touch with the owner, who showed up just a few minutes later.

The owner was an older man, and he was so grateful and happy that we called and looked after Napoleon. I held him in my arms the whole time, and I kept thinking about how hard it is to lose a dog. Sadly, I went through something like that with my family a few years ago. So I walked into the store feeling really happy I’d done the right thing, a small gesture that brought something good into the world.

And that’s the story of how one day I saved Napoleon from the toughest battle of his life ❤️
