Yesterday, I played acoustic for over an hour in Galway’s main square and I’m so excited to share this beautiful experience with you! ❤️
I met up with my friend @alorenss to eat curry sitting at the foot of the church (Saturday tradition haha) and I told her I had this idea, one of my crazy impulses, and of course she joined in 😬
I wanted to play on the street! I don’t have an amp or a big repertoire, but those are just excuses. We went to Eyre Square, I set my iPad on a stand I just bought and played the songs I felt like playing, just me, my voice, and my guitar. I don’t know for how long, over an hour, until the cold made me stop 🙈
And it couldn’t have been more wonderful. It’s amazing how you feel when a song catches people’s attention or touches them. How they sit nearby to listen, how some hum along, how some even dance. I remember, for example, a couple who stopped far away, watching me, and hugging while whispering ‘Karma Police’ by Radiohead. But a special shoutout to this next story 😍
I was playing ‘No dudaría’ by Antonio Flores when a little girl about 4 or 5 years old ran towards me, searched her pockets, and shyly dropped two coins into my guitar case (those were my first coins!). She ran back to her parents but then suddenly fell to the ground crying. Her mom was comforting her, and I went over there with my guitar, still playing the song. When she saw me so close, singing, playing, dancing, smiling, her tears stopped instantly and she cheered up. We all finished the song together singing and laughing. I remember my friend Anna had tears of emotion ☺️
I’m clear about one thing. For moments like these, all of this is worth it. Being able to help others be a little happier thanks to music is a gift from above ❤️
