Last night I performed at a pub in Galway, and I can’t wait to show you how I messed up and share the lesson I took from it 😀
Just like the previous Sunday, I signed up for the @openmicgalway at @roisindubhpub, a super special place where musicians, poets, and writers gather to share with the world what we love most. It’s incredible because there are artists of all ages and cultures, more experienced artists and complete beginners. Artists with amazing stories behind them that have brought them there. Their stories, with all that comes with it, their strengths and insecurities. But we all share the same thing: the passion to express ourselves.
And there I was 😺, pretty nervous, my second solo public performance, but feeling very supported and excited. I grabbed my guitar and played a wonderful song by @vetustamorla: Maldita Dulzura 😍
As you can see in the video I share, shortly after starting, I completely forgot the song! I stopped, apologized, started again, and that was it 😇. Really, there were two options: either stop and sink, or be brave and move forward. And of course, you always have to try. You have to do it!
Honestly, making mistakes is necessary. It’s the only way to avoid a bigger mistake, to grow stronger, and to improve. That’s real growth: exposing yourself, messing up, not being ashamed, and trying again. Doing it again 😬
In fact, I was going to edit the video and cut the beginning, but I think my mistake and my learning can help others. Life is a damn game, the world is about playing, so let’s play. The only real mistake is not doing things out of fear of failing ❤️
PS: I love the song, I made up half the lyrics but I’m super happy with the experience! 🔥
