Karma Police by Radiohead live

I want to share my feelings after playing ‘Karma Police’ by Radiohead last night at @openmicgalway, and I hope you give me your feedback please! ☺️

The truth is, I was suuuper nervous. This song, not even in my wildest dreams did I think I could sing it. My voice simply didn’t reach it until very recently, no way. It was a huge challenge and the pub was packed! 😱

But this song is one of my favorites and I’ve played it a billion times. I’ve played it with some bands I’ve had. I’ve played it accompanied by piano, with a band, or acoustically. I’ve played it with friends, on holidays, at parties, on the beach, camping… countless times. But I only played guitar, and always, always asked someone else to sing 🙈

When a few weeks ago in singing class I managed to sing it for the first time, I was blown away and thought “Really? Did I just do that?”. It was an amazing feeling, very emotional. And although I’m still working on controlling my new voice, every day it gets a little better and more confident, and I’m enjoying it a lot. I decided it was a great moment to take a risk, to test myself with a song like this in front of an audience and with the pressure of live performance. Challenge accepted 😎

And I couldn’t be happier! It wasn’t perfect, I still don’t fully control the nerves and the voice slipped a couple of times 😂. But I think at this point that doesn’t matter, it’s part of the game. I feel like I’ve passed my own test and without a doubt today I’m a better musician than yesterday. And that is what really matters, I’m on my path.

And I want to share something my grandfather always told me: “You can achieve whatever you want in this life. If someone can do something, you can too, by your own balls!” Wise words that resonate in me every day and give me strength ❤️
