Yesterday I lived a really beautiful musical experience and I’m excited to share it with you ☺️🎵
Like every Monday, I joined the Slow Trad Sessions group in Galway. These are Irish music sessions played at a slower pace to practice. Wow, it’s truly a privilege to practice a new musical style, playing with so many people and such varied instruments in a pub full of listeners. Totally different from being at home locked up learning with YouTube videos… 🙈
The group was really nice, supportive of each other, and warm. For me, everyone was new except the instructor Ryan, who’s amazing. We spent a couple of hours playing a bunch of Irish songs, and there was also a guy with a guitar who showed me some things for my beloved instrument. So, besides meeting people and having fun, I learned a lot. What more could you ask for? 😇
When the Irish session ended, some of us stayed at the pub for a while and spontaneously played and sang songs in Spanish, French, and English. It was such a nice way to get to know people, to share music from different cultures, and to let loose trying new things. We even rocked La Bamba! 😂
These kinds of experiences are a huge step in my learning and a wonderful opportunity to play daily with different people, different musical styles, and in different environments. Thank you, Galway! ❤️
