Last night I took part in a traditional Irish music session… in Barcelona! I can already tell you I had a great time, learned a lot, and met super nice musicians who supported me the whole time. But let me share a little more detail about my experience ☺️
The truth is, I’ve been going to these sessions in Barcelona for quite a few years… but always just as a listener. I used to go watch them play and dream that one day I could be part of those melodies, but I never even dared to try. And last night, I finally did it. During the first song, I just watched. On the second song, I grabbed my guitar and let myself go all the way through 🎵
Even though I’ve been playing in many places in Ireland these past few months, this is not Galway anymore. Actually, playing at Michael Collins was a pretty big challenge in my mind. Because even though it’s in Barcelona, it’s a new place for me, new musicians, new songs, and for a change, I didn’t know them. Everything was new.
But you know what? I am a new person too, and that’s the difference. Now I don’t care about looking silly. I have so much fun playing and last night was a blast. I don’t feel insecure anymore. I’ve even started to enjoy putting myself out there, so better not even get me started 🙈
PS: Last night I also played in the streets of Barcelona, right in front of the Sagrada Familia, and I have a super cool video that I’m dying to share with you! ❤️
